Carole Hoff is popularly known to be the ex-wife of the late American serial killer John Gacy. Prior to John meeting Carole, John had already been sentenced to 10 years in prison for sodomy in Iowa. But he did not serve the entire jail term because he was a model inmate, so he was released in about 18 months later. When John was released from prison he moved back to Chicago, Illinois. He later bought a house in Norwood Park and moved in. John then started dating Carole Hoff in October 1971.
Even though John was on probation that mandated he live with his mother and adhere to a 10 p.m. curfew, John managed to rekindle a romantic relationship with Carole Hoff and the two took it seriously. This was when John moved into his own home in Chicago’s Norwood Park neighbourhood and then started his own property maintenance business in 1971. John and Carole had known each other when they were younger.
