She previously worked as the New Statesman’s economics commentator and contributed to Novara Media.

 

Blakeley was born on June 26, 1993, in Basingstoke, Hampshire. On her father’s side, she is half Welsh. She received a private education at Lord Wandsworth College and later enrolled at the Farnborough Sixth Form College.

 

She received a first-class honors degree from St. Peter’s College in Oxford, where she studied philosophy, politics, and economics. At St Antony’s College in Oxford, Blakeley later earned a master’s degree in African studies.

 

Blakeley began writing a fortnightly column for the publication New Statesman in January 2019 and also contributed to the website and podcasts as its economics commentator.

 

In January 2020, Blakeley joined the staff of the democratic socialist publication Tribune. She is a member of the Labour Party’s National Policy Forum, which formulates policy.
