Dietrich Mateschitz, an entrepreneur from Austria, and Chaleo Yoovidhya, an entrepreneur from Thailand, established Red Bull GmbH in 1984. In 1982, when Mateschitz was still employed by the German business Blendax (which was subsequently purchased by Procter & Gamble), he took a trip to Thailand, and there he met Chaleo, the owner of TC Pharmaceuticals partnered with him and founded the Red Bull.
