Syed Musharraf graduated from Aligarh Muslim University and entered the civil service which was a highly regarded profession during Bristish rule.

His great-grandfather was a tax collector, and his maternal grandfather was a qazi, so he came from a long line of government officials (Judge).

Zarin Musharraf, Musharraf’s mother, was born in the early 1920s in Lucknow and attended school there before graduating from Indraprastha College.
