Julie Elliott, a member of the British Labour Party, was born on July 29, 1963. She was first elected as the Sunderland Central MP in 2010. From October 2013 to September 2015, Elliott held the position of Shadow Minister for Energy and Climate Change, with a focus on renewable energy, the Green Investment Bank, and issues relating to skills and supply chains. She has also held the positions of vice-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on State Pension Inequality for Women and chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Rugby Union. In the general election of 2019, Elliott won reelection for the Labour Party in Sunderland Central with a 2,964-vote margin.

In July 1963, Elliott, the third child and youngest, was born in Whitburn, Sunderland. Before working as a striker blacksmith at Wearmouth Colliery, her father, Harold, was an apprentice joiner at Sunderland Shipbuilders.

She received her education at Seaham Northlea Comprehensive before going on to Newcastle Polytechnic, which is now Northumbria University, where she earned a degree in government and public policy.
