Class 7 and 6 Mack trucks are built at the Roanoke Valley Operations facility in Roanoke, VA. Engines, transmissions, and rear axles for the North American market are manufactured at its powertrain facility in Hagerstown, MD.

The founder of the company, John Mack, started working with the carriage and wagon manufacturer Fallesen and Berry, which was based in Brooklyn. This was in 1890. In 3 years, John and his brother Augustus bought over the firm. Along with their 3rd brother William, they were involved in the manufacturing of steam and electric-powered vehicles.

Today, Mack is part of the Volvo Group, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of diesel, natural gas, and electric trucks, buses, construction equipment, and marine and industrial engines. The Volvo Group is a Swedish multinational manufacturing corporation headquartered in Gothenburg. Martin Weissburgn is the Chairman of Volvo Group North America and President of Mack Trucks, Named to the NAM Board of Directors
