It was designed by Mario Maserati, an artist, and relative of the company founders. Maserati’s mission is to “build ultra-luxury performance automobiles with timeless Italian style, accommodating bespoke interiors, and effortless, signature sounding power.

Maserati started in the town of Bologna in northern Italy in December of 1914 by five brothers, Namely, Alfieri, Bindo, Carlo, Ettore, and Ernesto Maserati. In 1940, the headquarters were relocated to Modena, Italy, an hour outside of Bologna, where it still operates today making genuine Maserati parts and vehicles.

After being owned by a few different parent companies over the decades, it is now owned by Stellantis since 2021. Maserati was initially associated with Ferrari. In May 2014, due to ambitious plans and product launches, Maserati sold a record over 3,000 cars in one month. This caused them to increase the production of the Quattroporte and Ghibli models.
