The Mohonk Mountain House, also known as Lake Mohonk Mountain House, is a vacation hotel in the United States that is situated on the Shawangunk Ridge, south of the Catskill Mountains. The building is located where the communities of New Paltz, Marbletown, and Rochester converge.

There are 259 guest rooms at Mohonk Mountain House, including 28 tower rooms, an indoor pool, a spa, and an outdoor ice rink for usage in the winter. The property’s 1,325 acres (536 ha) are largely planted with gardens and meadows. It borders the 85 miles (140 km) of hiking paths and carriage roads that make up the Mohonk Preserve.

In 1963, the Smileys donated the majority of their land to the preserve. The Mohonk Trust was the name of the preserve at the time.

Who Owns Mohonk Mountain House?

Since Albert Smiley first acquired Mohonk Mountain House in 1869, the Smileys have owned and run it. Six generations of the Smiley family have contributed their skills for nearly 150 years to guarantee that Mohonk thrives and upholds its traditions and values.
