Roy and Estelle Kelley developed Outrigger and opened their first hotel in 1947. Many of Honolulu’s iconic structures, such as the Immigration Station, Montegue Hall at Punahou School, the main structure of the previous Halekulani Hotel, and the former Waikiki Theater, were designed by Roy while he worked as an architect for Charles William Dickey.

KSL Capital Partners, a private equity company based in Denver, Colorado, that specializes in investments in the travel and leisure industry, is the owner of Outrigger Hotels. It has made numerous investments in ski resorts in Colorado. The company has raised more than $13 billion since it was founded in 2005.
