The phrase “African Diaspora” is frequently used to refer to migrant populations, primarily from Sub-Saharan Africa, that are spread out around the globe. Even though they are from different nations—like Nigeria, Ghana, or the French-speaking Cote D’Ivoire—they connect on a cultural level when they get together. Adesegun Adeosun Jr., better known by his stage name SMADE, is one businessperson who is using music and entertainment to unite the African Diaspora.

While considering his options, SMADE met Obi Asika, the founder of Echo Location Talent, a top talent management company that represents many of the most well-known urban performers in the world. SMADE and Obi collaborated to birth the Afro Nation festival which takes place every year.

Each year, Live Nation, Event Horizon, Smade Entertainment, and Memories of Tomorrow put on the three-day Afro Nation music festival. The festival was established in 2013 by Obi Asika, SMADE, and BBC 1 Xtra. Afrobeats, Hip Hop, R&B, Dancehall, Amapiano, Afro House, and other top African artists were often brought together on the platform. At the 2019 UK Festival Awards, the festival received a nomination in the Best Overseas Festival category.
