Ray Coyle, a businessman and the founder of Tayto Park, died at the age of 70. On Wednesday, the well-known entrepreneur died quietly surrounded by his family.
Mr. Coyle began his career as a potato farmer in Curraha, where he grew potatoes and vegetables on 15 acres of land.
After founding Largo Foods in 1982, he eventually came to possess the Tayto brand, as well as brands including Hunky Dorys, Sam Spudz, and Perri Crisps.
Tayto Snacks took the place of Largo Foods in 2019. Mr. Coyle established Tayto Park in Ashbourne, Co Meath, in 2010.
Tayto Snacks stated in February that it was withdrawing its sponsorship of Tayto Park and that the theme park would be renamed beginning next year.
Since it initially opened its doors, it has attracted over five million people, making it one of Ireland’s most popular paid visitor attractions.
Mr. Coyle is survived by his wife Roz, his son Charles, who manages Tayto Park, and his daughter Natalya, who has competed for Ireland in the Olympics.
