The NFL is the highest-level professional American football league in the world and one of the main North American professional sports leagues. The NFL regular season, which lasts 18 weeks from early September to early January and has each club playing 17 games while taking one bye week, starts with a three-week preseason in August.

Who Owns The NFL?

Most people often think that the NFL is owned by a single person but that is not the case. The NFL is not owned by a single organization but by a collection of teams owner and or government. The 32 NFL teams are the league’s owners. Thus, the NFL team owners thereby own the NFL and its brand.

Some teams have a single owner, while others have dual ownership. Then there are others who own a portion of the company jointly with several family members, or in the instance of the Green Bay Packers, with more than 350,000 investors. The Green Bay Packers, Inc., the company that owns the Green Bay Packers, has been a non-profit corporation since August 1923. Green Bay is the only publicly owned franchise in the NFL.
