Wozniacki won 30 WTA singles titles and two doubles titles. A junior Grand Slam champion, Caroline won the 2006 Wimbledon girls’ singles title over Magdaléna Rybáriková and was voted the WTA Newcomer of the Year in 2008. Caroline won a Grand Slam singles title at the 2018 Australian Open, beating Simona Halep and becoming the first Dane to win a Grand Slam singles title.

Why did Caroline Wozniacki retire?

Caroline Wozniacki retired from tennis earlier this year after being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 2018. She has spoken about the times she was in “so much pain and was so exhausted”, how she has battled the condition over the last few years, and her retirement and work trying to help other women with chronic inflammatory diseases.

Former world No 1 Wozniacki announced her retirement at the Australian Open earlier this year, having been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 2018. She won her last tournament in October 2018
