She was raised in Barranquilla and popularly known as the “Queen of Latin Music” which is due to her wide range of musical styles. At the age 13 years old, she made her first recording with Sony Music Colombia. She became famous in Hispanic Countries with her albums, Pies Descalzos (1995) and Dónde Están los Ladrones, after the failure of her first two albums, Magia (1991) and Peligro (1993).
Shakira sixth album, known as Laundry Service (2001), got a global sales of over 13 million copies, the album marked the beginning of her entering into the English-speaking market. Her hits “Whenever, Wherever” and “Underneath Your Clothes,” made her very popular as a crossover performer. Shakira is in Jail, because she was accused of not paying taxes in Spain between 2012 and 2014. She was ordered by a Barcelona judge to stand trial for evading €14.5 million ($14 million) of taxes in Spain. Shakira faces eight years and two months in prison with a fine of €23.8 million.
