William IV was born on August 21, 1765, in Hanover, Germany, he reigned as King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. William is the third child of George III, he took the throne in place of his older brother George IV, the last king and penultimate head of the House of Hanover in Britain.
William, who was nicknamed “Sailor King,” served in the Royal Navy during his youth, he spent time in British North America and the Caribbean.
He received the titles of Duke of Clarence and St. Andrews in 1789. He received the first Lord High Admiral title in Britain in 1709 in 1827.
However, he became heir to the kingdom at the age of 64 years, after his two older brothers passed away without leaving any legitimate issues.
During his reign, a number of reforms were made, including updates to the Poor Law, limitations on child labor, the abolition of slavery over practically the entire British Empire, and changes to the electoral process brought about by the Reform Acts of 1832.

William IV’s cause of death is as a result of cardiac failure and bronchopneumonia, he died on the morning of 20th June 1837. However, during his time of death, Queen Adelaide and his Fitzclarence children were by his side.
