We are saddened to inform William Muecke Barker’s passing. He was an American lawyer who presided over the Tennessee Supreme Court as its chief justice from 1995 to 2009. In the legal community, Barker was well-known and accomplished a lot in his lifetime.
Barker was a married father of three and a fairly cool person. In addition, he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga.
He also won a lot of accolades for being wonderful, such as the “Distinguished Alumnus” honors from both his undergraduate and law schools and the designation of “Significant Sig” by his fraternity in 2006.
Barker made extremely significant contributions to the legal community in Tennessee and beyond, and he left a lasting impression on the people and organizations he touched. His demise is a great loss, and we are praying for his family and friends at this trying time.
