A man is fighting for his life and a woman is on the run following an early morning shooting in west Shreveport.

On July 18, 2020, just after 7:30 a.m., Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to the 1400 block of Grigsby Street on reports of a shooting.

Officers located a 34-year-old man on the sidewalk suffering from a single gunshot wound to the body.

He was transported to Ochsner LSU Hospital and taken into surgery where he remains in critical condition.

Investigators with the Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene and following evidence collection and interviews with witnesses, learned that the victim was shot by his estranged girlfriend, 29-year-old Jenalisha Lawrence.

Lawrence allegedly shot the victim following an interaction in which he refused to argue with her.

She fled the scene in a green Honda Accord with a primer on the left passenger’s side front door.

Detectives procured a warrant charging Lawrence with one count of Attempted Second Degree Murder.

Bond was set at $150,000.00.

Lawrence has addresses in the 3100 blocks of Lindholm Street and the 2800 block of Drexel; however, investigators feel it is likely that Lawrence fled to the Dallas, Texas area where she is from.
