It has been alleged that some crook individuals are taking advantage of the poor lighting on the Tema Motorway to rob innocent drivers.
Their technique is familiar but innocent people especially strangers are falling prey to it.
The new technique these criminals have adopted is to rob private car drivers especially.
They pose as stranded people on the motorway late at night and when any kind-hearted driver stops to pick them up, they immediately check to see whether he or she has some valuable item placed beside him, and then they snatch it and run into the bush.
Quite recently, I witnessed a phone being snatched from a passenger who was making calls in a car by some thieves around Ashaiman toll. They ran away without getting caught.
A friend of mine has suffered the same sad ordeal last week. In a Whatsapp conversation with him, he told me that he was coming from Tema when a stranger stopped him and asked for a lift.
He rolled down his glass to asked where he was going. Before he could realise, the stranger who stopped him quickly snatched his phone and ran speedily into a nearby bush.
Kindly stay on high alert when crossing the motorway.
