Recently, the local news of Afghanistan confirmed that the Taliban have kidnapped 9 westerners, one of which is the reputed journalist, Andrew North.

As per LinkedIn, he studied journalism from University College London and graduated in 1991. After that, he reported news for local channels and stations.

In 2000, North was hired by BBC News as a news correspondent. He excelled which is why he was promoted as a correspondent for Kabul and Baghdad.

Andrew finally became an investigative reporter for BBC in 2008. But after a year, he returned as a Middle East correspondent followed by the correspondent of Washington and South Asia.

North left BBC in 2014 and took a one-year break. In 2015, he returned back in journalism as an independent and international journalist.

Andrew reported news from Iraq, the Middle East, Asia but his main focus was Afghanistan. He also worked closely with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
