On Friday, a newly recruited 22-year-old cop was shot dead while responding to a domestic violence callout in Harlem.

Shirley Sourzez is the mother of cop killer Lashawn McNeil. She lives in Harlem, New York.

Shirley called 911 at 5.09 pm, summoning police to the Harlem apartment where she lived her son and gave no indication that the officers would be walking into the deadly situation.

When Rivera, Mora and the third officer arrived at the McNeil house, Shirley was in a front room with another son.

When Rivera and Mora approached the room along a narrow 30-foot hallway, he fatally shot the officers.

The third officer survived because he remained with the mother and her other son.

Rivera was signed up to join the force in November of 2020, died that night in the shooting on Friday.

This was the third incident in less than 72 hours involving NYPD officers getting shot in the line of duty.

According to the police sources, Shirley had recently undergone heart surgery, and her 45-year-old son has lymphoma.

At the time, McNeil had an open arrest warrant for absconding probation in 2005 in a Queen’s drug possession case.

McNeil always argued with his mother and did the same from the moment he arrived.

He ranted about anti-government podcasts, and he had acute hatred towards cops and even on his vegan diet.

What Happened To Shirley Sourzes, Son Lashawn Mcneil?

Lashawn Mcneil was shot by the third officer standing with their mother and 45-year-old son on the door.

He later died in the hospital at 1.38 pm in Harlem.

McNeil opened fire with a Glock 45 equipped with a high capacity 40 round magazine, shooting both officers.

When Lashawn dashed the door, he was shot by the third officer in the right arm and head.

Mora, Rivera and Sulan, uniformed officers, worked the four p.m.-to-midnight shift in the 32nd Precinct.

Wilbert Mora was critically wounded and has been admitted to the hospital until he recovers.
