Boris Pahor was born in Trieste on August 26, 1913. He was a writer who best described life before, during and after the Second World War.
Pahor had his education at the Italian seminary classical lyceum in Koper and graduated in 1935 where he studied theology.
Boris Pahor was born to Franc, a civil servant in the Austro-Hungarian administration. His father was married to Marija Ambrozic.
Pahor earned great popularity in Slovenia after they had gained independence. In 1992, he received the Preeren Award, Slovenia’s highest honour for cultural achievements. Pahor was elected a full member of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts in May 2009.
