She was elected and started working as a clerk in 1975 at the age of 31. Henry Putnam didn’t want to resign from the office and had to be evacuated from the office.
Rorex decided to run for office after attending a meeting where members of the Democratic Party commented they wanted “a man” to run to oppose the female Republican aspirant.
Rorex administered 5 additional same-sex licenses in Boulder when the Colorado Attorney General stopped her.
After two and half years into her term, Rorex retired from office. She got wedded and relocated to California to prevent the harassment of her decision to issue the license.
Rorex decided not to hold any elected office again. After splitting up with her husband she returned to Colorado and gained two master’s degrees.
She was a legal administrator for 18 years for the Native American Rights Fund in Boulder. She passed on 19 June 2022 in Longmont, Colorado, she was78 years old.
