David Beckham supports some important charities and projects that seek to drive change for the better both in Britain and around the world. He became a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 2005, having previously supported UNICEF’s work for children while playing at Manchester United Football Club.

Following his retirement from a glittering 20-year career in football, he marked his tenth year as a Goodwill Ambassador by launching 7: The David Beckham UNICEF Fund in February 2015.

His parents, Sandra Georgina and David Edward Alan “Ted” Beckham gave him the name David Robert as a tribute to his father’s favourite footballer, Bobby Charlton. During his time in school, Beckham attended Chingford County High School, which is located in Nevin Drive, Chingford.

After retiring from football in 2013, Beckham has collaborated with well-known brands like Adidas, Diageo, H&M, L’Oreal, Tudor, and Sands. He has been an active supporter of Unicef for over 15 years and introduced the groundbreaking initiative, 7: The David Beckham Unicef Fund, in 2015.

As a Goodwill Ambassador for the organization, Beckham advocates for the rights and well-being of the most vulnerable children in the world. Additionally, in 2019, he lent his voice to Malaria No More, a campaign aimed at eliminating malaria in Africa.

Beckham’s journey in professional club football began with Manchester United, where he made his debut for the first team at the tender age of 17 in 1992. During his time at United, he secured six Premier League titles, and two FA Cups, and triumphed in the UEFA Champions League in 1999.

Following his successful stint at United, he moved on to Real Madrid, where he spent four seasons and clinched the La Liga championship in his final year with the club.

In July 2007, Beckham embarked on a new chapter in his career by signing a five-year contract with the Major League Soccer club LA Galaxy. During his time with the Galaxy, he also had two loan spells with AC Milan in 2009 and 2010, showcasing his versatility and skill on the international stage.
