Gaviria oversaw the Medellin cartel’s finances and trade routes as Pablo Escobar’s cousin and right-hand man.
Since the early 1970s, he and Escobar had worked together in their criminal careers. Despite having a fortune comparable to Escobar’s and even a military apparatus at his disposal, Gaviria was not as well known because he kept a low profile.
The circumstances surrounding his death are unknown.
It is believed that he was killed by Search Bloc and that the incident was covered up to avoid retaliation
