Hank Jr. had his major gig on The Jimmy Dean Show in 1964, singing his father’s songs at the age of 14. By the 1970s, Hank wanted to have his own sound instead of being seen as his father’s imitator. While he was working on his brand, he had a severe climbing accident. He had to go through several surgeries and he wore a beard and cowboy hat to cover his scars, this became his signature look.
