Johnny was born on March 26, 1946 to a family of filmmakers. His father was an Emmy nominee and his older brother co-starred on the series Laramie. He started acting at the age of 9 on The Walt Disney Company’s original Mouseketeers in 1955.
Crawford got the role of Mark McCain in the television series The Rifleman in 1958. At the age of 13, he was nominated for an Emmy Award as Best Supporting Actor in 1959. The show made him widely popular especially among teenagers.
He starred in other shows like The Big Valley, Hawaii Five-O, The Resurrection of Broncho Billy and Little House on the Prairie.
