Marvin John Heemeyer (October 28, 1951 – June 4, 2004) was an automobile muffler repair shop owner who, after a dispute with town officials, demolished numerous buildings in Granby, Colorado, with a modified bulldozer on June 4, 2004. Heemeyer had a falling out with Granby officials, particularly over fines for violating city health ordinances after purchasing property without a sewage system. He was fined for improperly dumping sewage from his business rather than connecting to the city sewer system. Heemeyer had secretly modified a Komatsu D355A bulldozer for about eighteen months, adding layers of steel and concrete to serve as armor.

On June 4, 2004, Heemeyer’s feud with Granby culminated in a demolition spree in which he used the armoured bulldozer to demolish the Granby town hall, the former mayor’s house, and several other structures. Heemeyer committed suicide after his bulldozer became stuck in the basement of a hardware store he was destroying.
