On March 14, 1969, Mary Claire Cheney was conceived. She serves as the country’s 17th secretary of defence and is the younger of Dick Cheney’s two daughters. In Madison, Wisconsin, a baby named Cheney was born. She completed her high school education at McLean High School in McLean, Virginia, where she graduated in 1987. She then enrolled at Colorado College, where her mother and sister were also undergraduates, and she received her degree there in 1991.

She contributes to numerous political action groups. In 2013, she supported an amicus curiae brief in the Hollingsworth v. Perry case that was presented to the U.S. Supreme Court in support of same-sex marriage.

In 1993, she became one of the Colorado Rockies’ first employees and worked in promotions when the team relocated to Denver. Subsequently, she worked for the Coors Brewing Company as an LGBT outreach coordinator and public relations manager, where she helped put an end to a widespread gay boycott of the beer firm.

She has served as her father’s primary campaign strategist and a treasured confidante. As the Director of Vice Presidential Operations, she joined the Bush-Cheney presidential reelection campaign in July 2003.
