Jared Hess, Jerusha, and Mike White collaborated on the script for the sports comedy-drama Nacho Libre, which they both directed and co-wrote. Ignacio, a loyal luchador devotee who covertly works as one to support his orphanage, is portrayed by Jack Black in the film. The plot was partially influenced by Fray Tormenta, a real-life Mexican Catholic priest who raised money for the orphanage he ran for 23 years by competing as a masked wrestler. Black, White, David Klawans, and Julia Pistor are the writers of the movie.

The movie’s director, Jared Hess, originally wanted Beck to write the score. Beck agreed because he liked Hess. Nevertheless, Danny Elfman took Beck’s place because Paramount Pictures deemed Beck’s style inappropriate for the movie. Elfman wrote and recorded a full score in May 2006. However, only about two-thirds of Elfman’s score was used in the film.

Is Nacho Libre offensive?

Yes, its regarded as offensive, however, due to containing violent action and coarse language, the MPAA has rated Nacho Libre as PG. Since he was a little child, Nacho has had ambitions of becoming a luchador. He even stole materials to create a costume, such as a string of rosary beads.
