Issei Sagawa was born on 26 April 1949. He is also known as Pang or The Kobe Cannibal. He is a Japanese murderer, carnibal and necrophile. He is widely known for the killing of Renée Hartevelt in Paris in 1981.

Sagawa murdered Hartevelt, mutilated, cannibalized, and performed necrophilia on her corpse for several days.

He engaged in other violent activities and has been charged by the court for his offences. Criminal charge(s) include; Murder, cannibalism (falsely identified as attempted rape by officials)

However, he was declared unfit to stand trial by reason of insanity.

Sagawa was arrested but later released after two years of pre-trial detention upon being found legally insane.
