A young mother from Co Tyrone, Jemma McGowan, heroically fought Stage 4 ovarian cancer for a long and difficult struggle. Her tale was featured in a TV series with Stacey Dooley, and it acted as both a source of inspiration for many and a source of personal grief for many. Despite Jemma’s unwavering will, her health sadly deteriorated and she abruptly passed away.

Jemma, who wed Clive in 2018, was a committed wife and mother to her three kids throughout her sickness. When she was six weeks pregnant with her second kid in 2016, she was given her initial ovarian cancer diagnosis. It is amazing that she managed to carry the pregnancy to term and give birth despite receiving therapy.

A lump was discovered by Jemma in January 2021 while she was 35 weeks pregnant, and subsequent tests revealed that the cancer had spread to an advanced stage. The doctors warned her that the illness was incurable and that there would be no further alternatives for therapy in the UK after May 2021.

Earlier this year, Jemma was highlighted in the documentary maker’s Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over series. The show followed Jemma as she spent time with her husband Clive, and their three children, and faced her terminal illness.
