Julian Keith Levene was born on July 18, 1957, and passed away on November 11, 2022. Levene was an English musician who was a founding member of both The Clash and Public Image Ltd. (PiL).
After the disbanding of the British punk band Sex Pistols in the late 1970s, Levene and the band’s lead singer, John Lydon, co-founded Public Image Ltd. (PiL).
He used Travis Bean metal-neck guitars to perform. He helped write, perform, and produce PiL’s first three albums, First Issue, Metal Box, and Flowers of Romance.
After some planned Japan gigs were cancelled due to visa issues, Levene and Wobble performed as Metal Box in Dub at various venues in England, Wales, and Germany in early 2012.
This was followed by the release of Yin & Yang, a four-song EP. Levene travelled to Prague in the spring of 2014 to record Commercial Zone 2014, an album supported by a crowdsourcing campaign funding website called Indiegogo.
Later in life, he made significant investments in Bitcoin and other forms of cryptocurrency.
