Margaret McNamara Educational Grants Scholarship For Women From Developing Countries 2024 /2025

Margaret Craig McNamara, wife of US Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, was born on August 22, 1915, and passed away on February 3, 1981. She founded a nonprofit organization that promotes children’s literacy.

McNamara was raised in Alameda, California, after being born in Spokane, Washington, on August 22, 1915. While attending the University of California, Berkeley, McNamara got to know Robert McNamara, with whom she would eventually get married on August 13, 1940.

Their move to Washington, D.C. was prompted by her husband’s appointment as U.S. Secretary of Defense by President John F. Kennedy.

About The Scholarship

To enable women to create a better world using education, MMEG has been fighting to empower women since 1981. We take great pride in showcasing our numbers. A wide range of subjects, including engineering, information technology, health, science, education, social studies, and law, have been the focus of grantees.

MMEG is a public charity that operates without profit to enhance the lives of women and children by funding the higher education of remarkable women from developing nations who will act as change agents.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet each of the following qualifying requirements

• Be a woman who identifies as such and, at the time of the application deadline, no older than 25
• Bear nationality from one of the nations (apart from the Trinity Washington University program) specified on the MMEG country eligibility list
• Be accepted not just admitted into a recognized on-campus university at the time of application submission
• Intend to enroll following the MMEG grant award for a minimum of one full academic semester (half-year term)
• Intend to complete their degree within three years of the MMEG grant being awarded
• Not be connected to an employee, spouse, retiree, or member of the MMEG board of the World Bank Group, the International Monetary Fund, or the Inter-American Development Bank.

RESEARCH PROGRAMS

Applications for this program are accepted every year between May 15 and September 14 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. In December, the selected candidates will get personal notifications.

In addition to the prerequisites listed above, candidates must:

• Already be enrolled at one of the universities on this list, either full-time or part-time (minimum of two courses per semester or term).
• Be enrolled for a minimum of one academic semester (half a year) once the MMEG grant is awarded in December (the period from January to July 2024).
• Intend to complete their degree within three years of the MMEG grant being awarded

Documents needed for Application

The following list of documents must be completed to submit your application. Please scan the following documents into your computer before beginning the MMEG application procedure (PDF preferable, jpeg or png)

• Identification card containing a photo:

(a) a page from your national passport that contains your date of birth and photo if you are studying abroad, or the most recent documentation of the university’s official registration, not an acceptance letter

• latest certified transcripts and/or reports from the university
• A page in the current passport including a visa or study permit (if studying abroad)
• Scanned second passport page (if the student holds dual citizenship).
• There will be times in the online application form when you will need to upload these files:
• A few succinct paragraphs outlining your background and how your ambitions, experiences, and studies relate to your work with women and children in underdeveloped nations.
• An assessment of your financial status for the upcoming academic year, taking into account living expenses, as well as your intended methods for meeting financing requirements.
• A picture and birthdate on an identity card issued by the government or a university.

When the application period ends, if an incomplete application with ALL necessary papers is not submitted, the application will become ineligible, and the applicant will be automatically excluded. Applications that are not complete will not be accepted.
