Donald Neil Kerley was a South Australian professional rules football player and coach. He was honoured as a member of the Order of Australia for his great achievements and services to the country.

Neil Kerley was born in Barmera, South Australia on 20 February 1934 to Laurie Kerley and Lilian O’Brien Kerley.

He was the second born of six children.

Neil Kerley began his career as a rules footballer in the year 1952 as he played for West Adelaide. He retired from playing after playing for sixteen seasons in 1969.

In 1970, he ventured into full-time coaching with Glenelg being his first team to coach.

Kerley died in a car accident on 29 June 2022, aged 88.

According to a tweet from Ryan Fitzgerald some time ago, Neil Kerley had one of his fingers dislocated while flipping the coin.

He also stated that the doctor was trying to fix it back in.
