According to multiple reports, Aaron Rodgers was sacked during the Jets’ season opener on the fourth play, resulting in a season-ending torn Achilles injury. Leonard Floyd, a linebacker from the Buffalo Bills, was responsible for the sack, and Rodgers was left limping and unable to continue.
Following the injury, Rodgers received assistance leaving the field and was transported on a cart for evaluation. Jets head coach Robert Saleh expressed his belief that Rodgers had suffered an Achilles injury, and subsequent reports, including an MRI on Tuesday, confirmed this diagnosis.
The Jets conveyed their disappointment with the unfortunate turn of events on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, stating, “Not the way any of us wanted it to go, but we know the commitment you’ve made to this team will continue to impact us moving forward. Get well soon, @AaronRodgers12.”
In an overtime game, the Jets managed to secure a 22-16 victory over the Bills with Zach Wilson as their quarterback, prompting Saleh to announce that Wilson would be the team’s starting quarterback going forward.
