Pawel Spiewak was born in Warsaw on April 17, 1951, is a Polish sociologist, historian, author and politician. Pawel Spiewak’s parents were Jan Piewak, a Polish Jew, and Anna Kamieska, who was of Polish descent and a renowned writer.

Pawel Spiewak’s academic career advanced even further following the collapse of communism, resulting in his appointment as a professor at the University of Warsaw in 2005. He was chosen to serve in the Polish Parliament in 2007 but opted against running again.

Pawel Spiewak was appointed head of the Warsaw Jewish Historical Institute on October 3, 2011, and held the position until midnight on December 31, 2020. Piewak then registered in Warsaw’s Societal College of the “Polin” Museum of the History of Polish Jews.

Pawel Spiewak was appointed professor of sociology at the University of Warsaw, where he is in charge of the History of Social Ideas division of the Institute of Sociology. Under the guidance of Jerzy Szacki, he completed his habilitation and a Ph.D. thesis on Anglo-American liberal political philosophy.
