Twisted Killers: Who Is Josh Bailey?

Josh Bailey was a man from North Carolina. He was kidnapped and murdered in a violent and disturbing plot back in 2008.

Episode 4 of “Twisted Series” tells the story of Josh. It was aired on 27th January 2022.

Josh Bailey was a victim of mental and physical abuse as a child. In fact, he and his two brothers were determined to be of “special needs” by the Department of Social Services.

Later, Bailey was adopted by his parents, Steve and Julie, at the age of 8. They settled in Orange County, North Carolina. Soon, Josh got involved with a small and disorganized group of drug users.

He and a fellow crew member Matt Johnson were under suspicion that one of them had been communicating with authorities. So, to determine who was loyal, the group orchestrated a fight between Bailey and Johnson.

In the end, Bailey was singled out and was driven to a forested area where he was killed.

Furthermore, his killer forced him to dig his own grave in a forested area before shooting him in the back of his head.

Was He Ever Found?

No, the dead can never be found. The group of drug users had killed Josh Bailey by shooting him in the back of his head.

Later, it was found out that the gunman was Matt Johnson. One of the group members, Minton, held a gun to Johnson’s head and beat him with a metal pipe to intimate him to shoot Josh.

After investigations, charges were brought against 10 people including Minton’s mother and father. His parents had helped him in obtaining muriatic acid to hasten Bailey’s decomposition.

According to Bailey’s mother, it took nearly 5 years for the defendant to come to trial. Six out of ten defendants were eligible for the death penalty, including Minton and Johnson. However, this capital punishment was not applied in this case.

Minton was charged guilty of first-degree kidnapping conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, and conspiracy to commit murder. He has been sentenced to life in prison.

Likewise, Johnson was sentenced to 24 to 30 years of life in prison in charge of second-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping.
