She represented Canada in numerous international competitions, including the World Youth Chess Championship and the Chess Olympiad.

Botez started streaming chess videos online in 2016, while she was a student at Stanford University.

She stated that during her first stream, most of the viewers were more interested in her than in the game. However, she currently co-manages the BotezLive Twitch and YouTube channels, which have a combined following of more than 2,200,000, with her younger sister Andrea Botez.
