His mother Antionette and his younger brother Christian later returned to Paris, and the family moved to Middle Park during that time….

In Paris, France, on March 28, 1945, Johnny Famechon was born. He relocated from Paris to Ferntree Gully, Australia in 1950, at the age of five, with his mother, father, and younger brother. His mother Antionette and his younger brother Christian later returned to Paris, and the family moved to Middle Park during that time. Later, Johnny and Andre relocated to Richmond.
When Johnny moved into the Johnson family’s Aspendale home, he became a member of the family. Johnny attended Essendon Technical School, where he made his lifelong friend John Johnson.
In 1969, after triumphing against the Cuban Jose Legra on points at the London Albert Hall, he was both the Lineal and WBC featherweight champion.

He sustained an acquired brain injury after being struck by a car in Sydney, Australia, in 1991, which led to a stroke.
Johnny was the third person to be given legend status in 2012 after being inducted into the Australian National Boxing Hall of Fame’s Moderns Category in 2003.
