LaVan Davis is an American actor, who was born on September 21, 1966, in Atlanta, Georgia, he is famous for portraying Curtis Payne in Tyler Perry’s television series House of Payne and The Paynes, which aired on the TBS Network from 2007 to 2012, and also aired on the OWN Network in 2018, and the BET Network from 2020 till date.
Davis’ acting career started in 2004 when he played Leroy in the movie Mindbenders. He appeared as a preacher in a guest role, which was in two episodes of Everybody Hates Chris in 2005.
The following year, Davis was cast in Tyler Perry’s House of Payne on TBS as Curtis Payne, the grouchy patriarch of the Payne family. Davis collaborated with Perry once more on two of his big-screen productions, Daddy’s Little Girls (2007) and Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns (2008). Davis has also performed on stage in the plays Madea Goes to Jail and Why Did I Get Married? as Leo and Poppy, respectively.
