In 2010, Pratt joined Audrina Patridge, Lo Bosworth, and Kristin Cavallari as key cast members of the show. As a spin-off of Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, MTV created the reality television program The Hills in 2006.
Lauren Conrad, who starred in its predecessor, her roommate Heidi Montag, and pals Whitney Port and Audrina Patridge were all included in the early installments, which followed their lives. Her friendship with Conrad fell apart once Pratt’s brother Spencer started dating and then moved in with Montag in 2007.
After Conrad suspected Spencer was behind allegations of a sex tape involving her and her ex-boyfriend Jason Wahler during the third season, she broke off her friendship with Montag; the resulting feud between the three persisted through each succeeding season. Stephanie first made an appearance on the show while yelling at Conrad in a bar during the third season’s filming. But they grew close once they realized they went to the same college.
