The colour parade at this morning’s Trooping marked the start of her official Platinum Jubilee celebrations, Queen Elizabeth made the first of two balcony appearances.

The Price of Wales takes the Salute on Horse Guards Parade and inspects the Troops of the Household Division on Queen Elizabeth’s behalf, joined by The Duke of Cambridge and Princess Royal, the Palace said in a statement.

Cavalry Mounted Regiment Upon return of Household and Guards, Her Majesty take a Salute from the Balcony of Buckingham Palace, accompanied by The Duke of Kent, Colonel, Scots Guards.

This time Prince Charles has attended the ceremony in place of his mother, demonstrating how he continues to take on extra responsibilities as monarch representative.

Her Majesty returns to the balcony in a few minutes with the royal family’s working members to observe the flypast.

Her Majesty is dressed in a dove blue coat with pearl and diamante trim for today’s occasion, which is thought to be the same as she wore in her official Platinum Jubilee portrait released by Buckingham Palace yesterday.
