From April 13, 1964, until July 2, 2022, Andy Goram played football as a goalkeeper for the Scottish national team.

Born in Bury, Lancashire, England, he started his career with Oldham Athletic and Hibernian, but is best remembered for his time spent playing for Rangers in the 1990s, when he earned the nickname “The Goalie.”

Goram played for Scotland in 43 international matches and was selected for their squads at the 1986 and 1990 World Cups in addition to the UEFA Euro 1992 and UEFA Euro 1996 competitions.

For Rangers, where he made 260 games and proudly won five league championships and five domestic cups, Goram is most remembered as a player.

He was selected 1992–93 Scottish PFA and Football Writers’ Player of the Year and is a member of the Scottish Football Hall of Fame. He won the title of Rangers’ greatest goalie ever in a 1999 fan survey.

Goram joined United on loan during the 2000–01 campaign, and he played in two of our productive games as we successfully defended our Premier League title.

Sir Alex Ferguson, who had given the goalie the first of his 43 Scotland caps in 1985 and had accompanied him to the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, signed him.

After a brief fight with cancer, Andy Goram, a great goalie for Rangers, passed away at the age of 58.
