Titanic was a British passenger liner, which sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on 15 April 1912 after striking an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton, UK, to New York City. Approximately 2,200 passengers were on board and over 1,500 died making it the deadliest sinking of a single ship of its time.

RMS Titanic was the largest ship afloat at the time she was considered “Unsinkable”. The Ship Titanic was under the command of Captain Edward Smith, who drowned with the ship. The liner carried some of the wealthiest people in the world, as well as hundreds of emigrants from Great Britain and Ireland, and elsewhere throughout Europe, who were seeking a new life in the United States and Canada.

Is Anyone From The Titanic Still Alive or Dead?

About 1,500 died during the accident due to inadequate lifeboats and the freezing waters. In 2009, the last surviving passenger of Titanic, Millvina Dean died at the age of 97 in Southampton from pneumonia. She was two months old, the youngest passenger at the time of the accident.
