Carol Creighton Burnett was born on April 26, 1933, in Texas to alcoholic parents. Carol started singing with her grandmother who was a trained musician. She attended UCLA to study Theatre Arts but she dropped out in 1954 during her junior year to pursue a career in acting.
Carol’s first success was her appearance on Broadway in the 1959 musical Once Upon a Mattress which earned her a Tony nomination. She won an Emmy for her performance in Julie and Carol at Carnegie Hall.
Carol Burnett Show debuted in September 1967, eventually winning 23 Emmy Awards. Burnette was a voice over actress for animated films like Toy Story 4.
