Casey Kasem was an American disc jockey, actor, and radio personality. He was the first actor to voice Norville “Shaggy” Rogers in the Scooby-Doo franchise from1969 to 1997 and 2002 to 2009. Kasem was born on April 27, 1932, to Lebanese Druze immigrants. He attended Northwestern High School in Detroit where he had his first experience as a DJ and moved on to Wayne State University.

In 1952, Kasem worked as a radio announcer while serving in the army. After the war, he went on to work as a radio presenter at Detroit’s WJLB and WJBK. He has lend his voice to animated films like Here Comes Peter Cottontail, The Incredible 2-Headed Transplant, Super Friends, and The Return of the King. Kasem hosted American Top 40. Kasem was married to Linda Myers and they had three children but they divorced in 1979. He married actress Jean Thompson and they have a child together.
