Doris Day was an American actress and singer. She is one of the biggest stars of the Hollywood Golden Age. She was born on April 3, 1922. Day always wanted to be a dancer, but an accident shattered her right leg and dancing dreams.
Day got singing lessons from Grace Raine and by 1949 she released her first single “Sentimental Journey” and it was a success. Following the success of her single, she was offered a role in the musical comedy Romance on the High Seas. She also starred in the musical I’ll See You in My Dreams. In 1963, she recorded the soundtrack for the film Calamity Jane, which earned her the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
In 1959, she starred in Pillow Talk, which she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress. In 2011, Day released an album My Heart. She became the oldest artist to score a UK Top 10 with an album featuring new material.
