Is Gene Hackman Still Alive or Dead?

Eugene Allen Hackman is an American actor. He is an acclaimed actor who has won two Academy Awards, four Golden Globes and two BAFTAs. He is best known for Bonnie and Clyde, Crimson Tide, Enemy of the State and Behind Enemy Lines.

 

Gene was born 92 years ago in San Bernardino. He joined the army at the age of 16 and was stationed in China as a radio operator. When he left the army in 1951, Gene decided to pursue acting. In 1956, he joined the Pasadena Playhouse where he met and befriended fellow actor Dustin Hoffman. He got minor roles and had to work as a doorman to support himself.

 

In 1967, he featured in Bonnie and Clyde, which earned him an Oscar nomination. In 1970, Gene was nominated for his second Oscar in the movie I Never Sang for My Father. This gave him the status of a serious actor and in 1971, he won the Oscar award for Best Actor in the movie The French Connection. In the next three years, he starred in ten films.

Gene was able to alternate from a lead man to a supporting actor which made him easy to work with and gave him longevity in the industry. Gene retired from acting in 2008 to become a novelist.

Gene Hackman was struck by a truck while he was cycling in 2012 but he made a full recovery. He is very much alive and was active cycling till 2018.
