Gladys Maria Knight is an American singer and actress. She has won seven Grammy Awards and sold over 60 million records. Knight was born May 28, 1944 at Atlanta. She joined the “Pips” in 1966 and they delivered hits. The Pips toured with notable artists like Diana Ross and The Supremes.
In 1973, she won the Grammy for “Midnight Train to Georgia”. Knight and the Pips released their final album, All Our Love in 1987 and it was a hit. In 1988, Knight was a solo artist and recorded the soundtrack for a James Bond movie, License to Kill. She went on to release her album “Good Woman” and it peaked at No. 45 on the main Billboard 200 album chart.
In 1976, Knight worked on several films like Pipe Dreams, Hollywood Homicide and Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All by Myself.
