The word “Megalodon” means “big tooth” in ancient Greek. The Megalodon was a special breed of mackerel sharks. It is believed The Megalodon lived 3 million years ago, it was the biggest predator to have ever lived.

According to studies, the Megalodon grew between 16 to 18 meters in length, three times longer than the largest white shark.

Its jaw is estimated to be about 3 meters wide making it easy to swallow two human beings at a go and it is believed the shark had about 250 teeth.

There is no accurate image of the Megalodon but based on the fossil found it is believed to be a relative of the Great White Shark. The oldest definitive ancestor of megalodon is a 55-million-year-old shark known as “Otodus obliquus”
